Profession
I was wondering whats the BEST proffesion is for someone new to GW. I was thinking of becoming either a necromancer or a elementalist. Witch would be the easiest one for me?

I have tried a good amount of profession combinations, and I would say the easiest to play would be either a warrior/monk or warrior/elementalist. Be easy I mean self-sufficient, all you really need is maybe another healer for PvE battles.

Me, I was a N/R and I had a bunch of fun for the most part. So, I have to say any profession is good, as long as you play it right. (You won't want to be rushing into melee combat if you're a M/E )

This one of the great things about Guild Wars, it's really balanced. So all professions are even, the decision is what you think is more fun and fits your playstyle best. There are no best professions, but there is a best profession for you.
If your looking for something easy to start out with, try Warrior. I started gameplay as a Ranger, which was only a wee bit harder then Warrior. All professions are great. --Ginko |

Elementalist will be easier for a new player than necromancer.

Do not take any heed of people telling you what's "easier" to play. Warrior/Monk is no easier to play than Mesmer or whatever else. It's not like if you choose Warrior we push you softly through a shallow learning curved tutorial and if you select Mesmer we chuck you into the Tombs from level 1. You will learn whatever class you pick - based on preferance - long before it becomes truley hard and difficult. So my best advice is pick on whatever you think looks the coolest or plays the best.
There are no superior nor easier classes. |

the choice between necro and elementalist really lies in what you want to play.
Necromancers hex foes and raise the dead and stuff like that, and have the third strongest armour in the game. Elementalist blast foes with powerful spells but have the weakest armour in the game. |

I must strongly disagree. The warrior is the easiest class to play. Combined with a monk to make a Warrior/Monk makes it easier.
Why? Well, Warriors are the most competant at soloing. They deal the most damage and have the best defense (especially when weilding a shield). They can rush into battle against multiple enemies with little problem. Then add the monk's heal spells and mend (health regen) and you've got yourself a pretty hardy character. Other classes can't do this so well, especially at higher levels. The need for forming groups becomes more critical with each passing environment as most of the other classes require dealing with your foe at a distance. It can be done with these classes...but it's harder and requires more skill and thought. Even when you're creating a character it says right in the character description that Warriors are the best choice for beginners. They don't require as much thought...just run towards the enemy and start clicking away. |
